Menstrual Cycle and BC

This one is for the ladies. My cycle, as many of yours probably are, is out of whack. Lately it's been coming a week or even three weeks early. My headaches and symptoms get terrible the week before it starts and during it.
Would birth control help or make it worse? I'm curious as to if any of you use it to help with headaches and regulating the cycle in general.

ugh...that happens to me too and totally freaks me out. I find that it happens mostly if I've been upright for a while then lay down.  It sounds like a gurgling liquid and I get an uneasy feeling with it. Only lasts a few seconds. I was thinking it had to do with obstructed CSF or something...so freaks me out even more!

maybe i should mention that in my last mri about a month or so ago, the radiologist found a cyst in the canal area. could that be it?

i'll check with my new neurologist when i see him and see what he has to say. does pseudotumor not show up on an mri? when i lay my head down on a pillow i can hear a squirting sound of liquid or bubbles and it freaks me out a bit.

You might want to see a endocrinologist too.  Have you been checked for psedotumor?  I know increased pressure in the head can cause issues with pituitary and that can cause irregularity and bad mc.

It will definitely regulate your cycle, like clock work! The newer pills are not as strong so you may not have the mood swing or overall symptoms that the old pills used to give us. Since the pill regulates the homones, it may help with headaches too.

Mine was always out of whack also, until I had my first pregnancy, then it became regular.  I did use birth control, some really screwed with hormones/moods, but I'm sorry, I don't remember if it helped the headaches, it was too long ago :p

I always had problems w/my menses, from day 1.  BC pills did help, starting from when i was 16, but obviously I didn't want to stay on them forever.  Menopause was even worse, & was delayed until I was 59!

I had surgery after menopause, so there's no way to know if Chiari was involved.

Hi....I know we have other threads on this issue, as for myself I went into menopause early so I did not have this to deal with once I was dx'd.....but wonder if my Chiari, and EDS were the reasons I could not tolerate BC....

I had many issues with my one pregnancy as well so, I know it does affect so much of these other aspects of out lives.

Oh can I relate, only mine come too late. I am so out of whack. I have never been a regular cycle type person but I have been getting ovarian cysts a lot lately and that really screws things up form me. I have horrible headaches and pms for weeks waiting for it to start. I was lucky enough to finally start today after waiting for an eternity with the symptoms and now I feel like I'm in labor and my head is killing me. I would talk to your gyn about it. I wish you the best!

So before surgery and my dx I thought all of it was due to hormones as it followed the schedule. Ovulation and period I was in bed  ot urgent care due to rolling ha and my cycle was always longer. I tried birth control but made it worse. Since I had surgery I am regular and hardly even notice I don't have ha during anymore!
