HI Lisa,
Many chiarians do have cervical stinosis.
SSEP
Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP) is a test showing the electrical signals of sensation going from the body to the brain.
BAER brainstem auditory evoked responses
BAER testing is more cost effective for this purpose than MRI (Rupa et al, 2003) , but MRI provides additional information.
Chiari protocol would be a group of chiari drs have a standard for testing....basics like the CINE MRI...MRI's for Lumbar, thoracic, cervical spine and brain w/wo contrast.
I had an EMG which is electric stimulus to track the nerves and if they r transmitting to the brain....this was only done in my legs....it ruled out tarsel tunnel. Not sure if it is the same as the SSEP.....

i sent them a short email yesterday more of as a check up on whats what, and i got an email back stating
He reviewed your MRIs and the questionnaire.
You have Chiari I malformation and a cervical stenosis.
We would like some additional testing done to include; MRI of the brain with a Chiari protocol, MRI of the lumbar spine to make sure you do not have spinal stenosis.
also SSEP and BAER testing done.
I didnt know i had Cervical Stenosis, has anyone had these two tests SSEP and BAER and what exactly is the Chiari protocol?
thanks Lisa
It only took you TWO weeks to get in to TCI??
Once I faxed my paperwork and made sure they got it, I didn't here back for 6 weeks, and then my appointment was 4 or 5 weeks after that!
...it all depends on how busy the office is and with some drs it depends on the symptoms u report and the MRI's u sent....most tend to get those in with the most need first and then....so on.
I would expect it to be 2 weeks.....that's about the time for TCI to get back to me once they had received everything.
If u called them and they do not have files to go by, then I am sure they will go by what u told them.It is so hard to wait for these appointments and dx's.
Hang in there
