not a neurological problem?

Any suggestions on where I need to go from here... as I have posted earlier I am recovery from surgery of 7 months from my first surgery and 5 months from my second. I am now having symptoms numbness in my face hands arms and head pressure. I called my surgeons office who did the surgery and after telling her the sypmtoms she told me this was not a neuroogical problem. Which confused me. So I have a follow up appt with him on Friday. What questions do I need to go in with and where do I need to go from here? It just seems like once I has surgery that was all the surgeon wanted to do with me. Other than pt appts and a few follow up mri there isn't much he has done. Pt explains to me all that I am going thruough is normal but why would the nurse tell me its not a neurological problem? So confused!?

Thanks all that responded! I love the support given here ! I hope to have more anwers by the end of this week. I do have an appt with my primary provider tomorrow. She has been great through all the diagnosis process so I know she will work really hard at directing me where I need to go. So I am all new to this posting may I ask what exactly is NL?

Hi...U have been given very sound advice from all the above posters.....call the dr and get the info....I have no idea y the nurse was trying to do the NS's job????

I am sorry u r still having issues, and I would not like to think these feelings r from the healing process even tho we r told to expect some symptoms to return as we heal.

I pray u get a hold of the NS and answers soon.

Don't panic first of all, easy to do with all that going on. :-\ So sorry you are having to deal with these anoying symptoms.

Secondly, if it where me, then when I seen the Dr I'd post him 'directly' the questions you have about your symptoms. If you get the same response, go get another opinion. If he listens with empathy then once the solution is found or at least a plan to find the cause I'd speak frankly about how this nurse treated you. Stating facts only as to exactly what she told you. Any good Dr would want to know if his staff made such comments of their own accord.

I hope she then directed you to the ER, given the numbness!  How does she know you don't have a blood clot causing a TIA (transient ischemic attack) or worse?

Like carolyn said, this was a nurse that told you this and not the dr. You also have to remember that NS are just that, surgeons. They dont do a lot of the follow up post surgery. You need to find a good NL or at least a really good pcp who is willing to learn and listen. As for your appt, i would go in with a list of your symptoms and also ask him if there is a NL that he recommends for you to see. I know its frustrating but hang in there! Blessings ~ Shannon

NO wonder you are confused..not a neurological problem with numbness and head pressure, that doesn't sound right to me! Keep in mind that you didn't actually talk to the NS so I wouldn't take what what the nurse says to heart. The good thing is that you have a follow up with him and I would bring a list of symptoms of everything that is bothering you.

I know how you feel about the follow ups, I feel the same way. I was told that I needed to get a new NL, which I am in the process of doing but the 1st appt was scheduled for 6 months away!! I figured I will see my NS for follow up before then so I just left it.There really doesn't seem to be anyone to get information from other than coming on here!

My advice, go to the followup, lay down your symptoms and ask if it warrants having another MRI to look at things.
