Thanks.....the Er doctor that diagnosed me with chiari perscribed Norco wich doesn't help.
I would hold off on the imitrex for now. So your body doesn't get use to right away and you would have to keep upping the dose. Something we don't actually want as in the future if and when you may need surgery, you will want something that will help you recover. And if your body has adjusted to tthe medicine it won't help you. Imitrex I believe is taken as a last measure if nothing else helps. So try topamax first and even though it took me a long time for my body to over come the side effects it actually helps. And with the support of thus ccommunity I stuck with it because I was frustrated with it all and rready to throw out the medication.
Thanks im going to mention these to my dr
Hello I have found out though it took my body a long time to adjust to it but topamax has worked for me. As well as imetrex though I am only take them on the extremely bad days. So we will see how long it will last. As our bodies don't take very long to get use to a certain dosage.
Did you have leads to monitor your BP as well?....Some reg MRI's are also done with contrast...it is the BP and the fact it is a video of flow and not a still pic as in reg MRI's....this is to see changes with your BP...as it can affect flow.....
Oh ok yea they did use contrast on the second part
A CINE MRI is a CSF flow study.....they do it in 2 parts...they inject a contrast dye and place leads for the 2nd part of this testing....
Not saying it has happened in your family, but many times Chiari is misDX'd as MS.....studies have shown, there are more people with Chiari then MS....this happens bcuz the symptoms are similar as you mentioned and there are many misinformed Drs on Chiari...
No I haven't found a specialist yet. What is a cine mri? I think they just did it of my head. MS also runs in my family and the symptoms are similar
Not really....some may help at first but, wear off in a short time frame...
Have you had a CINE MRI? Ruled out related conditions and found a true Chiari specialist?
