Does CM cycle to where you will have good weeks or several days or is it the norm to feel like garbage most of the time? I have some days where I almost feel human , then right back down back down I go again. Now that I have had a an allergic reaction to the diamox the whooshing sound is more intense , the headaches are mind crushing, and the numbness is unbearable.  Just wish there was a break in the chiari storm you know?

Hi...yes as Lizzy and BTB mentioned symptoms can cycle and flare....it is not a fun condition to have bcuz we forget when we feel good and over do and then pay for it later with a flare or a cycle of pain.

Keeping a journal or diary like Lizzy mentioned is a good idea so u can see just what u r able to do...many of us have been compensating for yrs and know, but refuse to listen at times to our bodies and still pay the price for over doing it.....

Moderation is key and avoiding those tasks that will always give u payback 10 fold....

It is very important to get completely checked to see if u have a CSF blockage like Lizzy mentioned as it is one of the main reasons for the symptoms to  progress and get worse...if left go for too long u can have perm damage.,..so get checked for a syrinx, CS blockage , over crowding etc....as they r related to chiari and will affect ur course of treatment.

it is very common for your symptoms to cycle!  we all go thru this at some point.  having not been on for a while, i don't know if you have a blockage of csf....that can explain the whooshing sounds you are experiencing.  if you do, you should really consider surgery.  your symptoms are only going to get worse and can quickly lead to permanent nerve damage!  also, in most cases, your headaches will lessen or go away completely after surgery.  the things that made it worse for me were stress, straining, stress, bending over, stress, doing too much, stress, rain/snow (changes in barometric pressure), oh....and did i mention stress?  those are just a few of the things that i noticed that caused an increase in symptoms.  you really should try keeping a diary.  this way, you can see exactly what you were doing before the symptoms kicked into high gear!
good luck!

I have long periods of time where I feel fine too which is what caused me to really ignore a lot of what I was feeling for so long. It's weird to know what's going on in my head and then have the symptoms come and go like they do.
I have not been able to figure out what causes it to be better or worse. I wish I knew!
