new chiari patient / surgery in 4 weeks!

e2k
Hey all!

My name is Thomas and I am from the Toronto area. I was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and syringomyelia, my surgery is scheduled in 4 weeks and needless to say I am scared and happy at once. I see many people here and thought I might ask if anyone in the GTA area has any experiences  with the surgery on first hand or might even know Dr. Schutz my neurosurgeon?

Hello and welcome

I am from Canada but on the West Coast (Vancouver Island), so I'm not sure how helpful I can be. The name Dr. Schultz does sound familiar to me though from my discussions with other Canadians. I had surgery in Dec. 09 so I do have some experience I guess in the "Canadian" surgery practices :) Anyhow, feel free to send me a message if you want to know any more and I would be happy to answer your questions!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

I see u r scheduled for surgery,do post ur date in our surgery date thread so we can send out prayers and good vibes for u.

We do have some Canadian members...not sure what area u r in and if we have someone in that area as well....but we do have a list of drs for Canada as well...and if ur Dr is on it then we most likely have a member that was a patient of his.

I am happy to welcome u, and wish u well for ur surgery, but so sorry u had to seek both of us out.
