Molly and Nick Rimando!

this is a copy of the article that will post on all (hopefully!) chiari web sites.  it is also an excert of another article i have written for our local papers.  the original has two photos of molly and nick, but for some reason, they won't transfer.  a video of the interview will be on the way shortly, so keep an eye out for the link!  they have aired it twice!!!  again.....congrats molly on a job well done!






On June 2, 2010, with the help of Kyle Sheldon of DCUNITED who donated the tickets, Molly Lichtenstein was able to meet her idol. Nick Rimando, goalie for Real Salt Lake, agreed to meet Molly at the RFK stadium before the game.  They chatted like old friends and he even gave her the gloves off his hands (signed of course!)and signed a jersey for her.  Molly was glowing!!  She was then asked to give an interview which aired on comcast sports on June 3rd.  When asked why Rimando met with her, Molly explained all about Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia.  She talked about the decompression surgery she underwent in August of 2009 and how for her, it was unsuccessful.  She described the disabilities and difficulties associated with CM and SM.  Great job in spreading awareness, Molly!

Many, many thanks to Nick Rimando and Kyle Sheldon for making this young chiari patients dream come true!  You put a smile on the face of a very special young lady who had forgotten that being a kid was supposed to be fun.  Mad props, gentlemen!!!

I agree with selma Kudos to Nick and Kyle, but if it had not been for you Lizzy they would have never known about Molly!!! So i think you all deserve a round of applause! You, Nick, Kyle, and Molly for doing a great job on the interview and just for being a great kid all around! ;~) Shannon

it did put a spark back in my life to see the happiness in her eyes!  but the interview was allllllll her!  i'm so proud of her i could just bust!  just so glad i was able to be a part of it and witness the joy first hand! lol!
