cold hands and feet

I've noticed lately that my hands and feet are cold more often then not...was just wondering if anyone has cold hands and feet since decompression?

while in my case it could also be hydro related just thought id throw this out there..

Shannon- Yes...my body temp is usually under 96 unless I am baking in the sun or just had a hot bath!! Which makes it really easy to get cold fast! I'm still trying to sort out tho whether it's thyroid or Chiari that is causing it as both can.

Darlene- I noticed you mentioned that your shins are always cold...that is the same with me...when my NL would put the cold metal thing on my legs...I wouldn't notice the coldness until he almost got to my knee.

Selma- You're right VERY frustrating..especially for a person like me who likes to have everything figured out!!

I'm ALWAYS cold! But not just my hands and feet although they are the worst. I went and bought "hunter's socks" because my feet are so cold they hurt and DH brought me home some thermal glove inserts from his welding gloves so i could keep my hands warm but still use them. I dont know if it can affect just the hands and feet but the brain stem controls your body temp so that is one reason so many of us are cold all the time. Does anybody else have a low body temp? Like my normal temp is 96.5 instead of 98.6

My hands and feet are freezing and pretty much my whole body.  I especially feel extreme cold in my shins.  I have not had decompression surgery.  I had recently lost weight and was considering that to be the reason.  After thinking on it a while, I realized that this came on about the time my CM1 symptoms started to worsen.  Still I am very well compared to most of the messages I read so I will just cuddle up in my heating blanket and be THANKFUL!

Lisa...many ENDO's do not know the proper testing for an autoimmune thyroid condition....I will  see if I can locate the info I printed and gave to my PCP ...it convined him to do the testing and then rx me the meds.....it took a yr of seeing an ENDO that refused to look at nething other than TSH...so even if u have a normal TSH u can have a thyrois issues that is autoimmune and needs the free T3 and free T4 to be tested along with the TPO antibodies and TSH.

I agree Carolyn...there r sooooo many conditions that have overlapping symptoms....confusing and frustrating.

I think problem is that there is a ton a conditions that can cause this....so it's like how do you pick the right one?? Everytime I look on a symptom list for almost anything...there it is!

I had this worse prior to surgery!  I felt like I had run outside in the snow barefoot, so cold it would hurt!!  It kept me from sleeping often times!
Since surgery I notice it's not as bad but still occurs at times!

my PCP insists i do not have hyper or hypo thyroidism..but hes a yutz and doesnt know half the stuff he should or that i think he should anyway......

i guess time will tell...

like right now my fingers and toes are cold but the palm and foot are warmish...
just weird...

My hands and feet are always cold too....sometimes it goes in cycles where I don't notice it as bad and then I'll have a long period of time where they will be freezing no matter what the outside temp is. The only time I can remember them ever being normal is after the surgery when they put those legs things on to stimulate the blood flow.

I have found it listed that being hypothyroid or that Hashimotos can cause this too...

Many of us with chiari have it so I am not sure what it  totally caused by....bcuz I do have chiari and EDS,...I also have stinosis...no hydro tho....

it is one big puzzle......

yeah its so weird i dont have EDS or raynauds well not that i know of anyway
i don't know if its because of the hydro, the chiari, or the cervical stenosis....

it was just something i was paying attention to lately
and realized through-out the day my hands are cold quite frequently

Hi Lisa...I had this prior to surgery and was dx yrs ago with raynauds...My NS and NL said it is the EDS  not raynauds....very strange to have cold hands and feet even sitting outside in 70  degrees.....
