I wanted to add that there is also a chemical PD, as u can get it from meds, my Aunt got it from the types of meds she was on for yrs,....
And Ehlers-Danlos which is a related condition to Chiari can cause some tremors in the muscles too.....I asked about this to one of my Drs and was informed it was the EDS....
Chiari can also cause seizures as well ....not everyone with Chiari will develop these issues....
Mike.....
There is no definitive test for PD. Since the diagnoses is made objectively, yes it can be wrong. While involuntary muscle movements are a sign of PD, they are also a sign of nerve compression related to Chiari. An example of this is a lady who had her decompression surgery the same day as my daughter..... She had Parkinson type movement of her head (involuntary head doddle) which was relieved by her surgery. She had that symptom for years! Furthermore, although PD can strike at a young age, it is typically seen among the elderly population. Your symptoms are more likely related to your Chiari in my opinion :-) What a hell of a thing to scare someone with; Dr.'s never cease to amaze me! Lisa
