Vision Loss

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with CM1 when I was 16. 6mm herniation with no symptoms....fast forward to 6 weeks ago (almost 12 years later) and every symptom under the gun popped up within a week. I've been referred to a NS who I have an appointment scheduled with on November 19th. I've struggled with blurry vision in my eyes for weeks....it comes and goes, sometimes lasting a few hours, other times just a few minutes. This morning my vision in my left eye went completely....I can't make out shapes of anything and the only thing I am somewhat aware of is the difference between light and dark....I can tell when a light is on in the room or if it is dark. But that is it. Its freaking me out now because it has been 4 hours and vision hasn't improved even the slightest bit. Has anyone had any problems like this? If so, did it resolve itself? What do you think I should do...because I don't know if I can go on like this for just over another month before I meet with the NS....and my PCP is as good as useless.

Hello I have been having blurred vision at first is was here and there and not too bad. Now it seems to be worse, I have blurred vision pretty much all day, I don't like watching tv, being on computer,  or really even using my phone to text or even type this right now. I go to the eye doctor in a week. I cant read from a distance. Im hoping to get glasses with a tint to help because and lighting or brightness gives me an instant headache

Try to keep an accurate symptom journal to keep note of any activity or even weather that triggers what you are feeling. Since your vision is so important, maybe call your nuerologist's office to ask I'd they can put you on a call list if there are any cancelations. I hope you can get in before 11/19.

  Hi and  welcome to  the  Chiari forum.

  May  I ask, did you  have any  MRI's to monitor your  Chiari  in the  yrs from DX until  now....?and have you been in a MVA or had a fall that may  have  triggered  the symptoms?

Mine was discovered when I started losing the vision in my left eye. Turns out that the pressure in my head was making a blood vessel leak in the back of my eye.
