Baby Melanie passed away on 1/29/13, she was 17 month old. She passed away during her decompression surgery for Chiari. Many thoughts and prayers to the family. Another little Chiari Princess got her wings....How many more will have to ..before you start getting familiar with the Term Chiari Malformation this is an up hill fight we are losing friends and little ones more and more often please put Chiari Malformation in your vocabulary look it up do some research ask a friend repost this just get it out there we need YOUR HELP NOW to stop this from happening to one more of our little ones..

Baby Melanie went in for decompression and the doc did not do a follow up MRI right before or a vein check while in surgery he hit a vein and before he got it under control she passed with attempts at cpr she was brought back but not with any brain function....these docs really need to start paying for all of these things they are getting away with im not sure what we need to figure out but we need to figure something out

  Hi Molly this is so sad, how did u get this info? Wasn't this Dr a true Chiari specialist?
How could they not check for veins....I know my was as well as nerves were on what TCI calls Dopplar mapping this is done thru out surgery....

We need to stand up and scream Chiari Malformation is not insignificant !
