starring seizures with chiari? HELP!

My 3 year old daughter had surgery last August for Chiari 1.  She had sleep apnea and that is how the Chiari was discovered.  Now, we are suspecting seizures.  She will just stare of into space for minutes at a time and we can not get her to come out of it.  She is also wetting her pants a lot after being  potty trained for over a year and complains about being tired all the time.  When she gets really tired she regresses back to about a one year old and stops talking and crawls and ***** her thumb.  (she never sucked her thumb as a baby!).  We are at our witts ends.  We do not want to be putting her in time-outs or anything for this behavior, because we don't think she can control it, but we have no idea what the heck is going on!

HELP!

Thank you for your post.  I hope surgery was a huge success.  We will be having an MRI on Friday and then see the neurosurgeon.  I am mixed between hoping they find nothing, but then continuing knowing not everything is okay and hoping that they find something so we can move on and she can be better.  It's a strange feeling.

God Bless!

My neurologist diagnosed me with a seizure disorder in the Fall of 2008.  My main symptom is staring spells.  My family believes this has been ongoing, since childhood.  My teachers and PCP thought I was bored in school.  Now, my husband will talk to me for 10 to 15 min and when I come out of it, I have no sense of time or what he said.  I will even answer his questions, but not remember the conversation afterwards.  My new neurosurgeon indicated yesterday that my staring spells could be a result of either my Chiari or the seizure disorder and he scheduled me for decompression surgery this Monday April 6, 2008.  He indicated that If my staring spells continue after the surgery, then they are from the seizure disorder, not my chiari.

Her prognosis was much better then Kalamazoo Dr.he does mostly adaults.  He is sleepy most of the time & recently started sucking his thumb!  He will be at Motts childrens hosp. in Ann Arbor.  What does dr. say about regressing? What does her pediatrician say?

Is she on the sleep apnea breathing machine?

When was her last MRI?
