HI Mike...I think many of us had this same issue...there r diff things u can try.....as Linda mentioned using pillows to prop urself up is good, but u may also want to put some under ur knees as well when u r on ur back to help take some of the pressure off, I was told to do this by several Drs I saw....and if u think about the hospital beds it is the way they conform them to help with sleeping....
A good warm soak in the tub b4 going to bed may also help u relax...as long as u do not suffer from insomnia like so many of us do....for that I found a antihistime that is a drowsey formula to help sleep at night is helping me....I still have my occasional night here and there, but overall sleeping better.
Good luck I hope one of these may help u <3
I hope you can get comfortable. I'm with Ryanesmom. I coldn't lay flat at all when in preop. I could put a lot of pillows behind me and lay on a incline. This helps keep the fluid from buiding up in the head also. Try putting a pillow under your fee also and please try to relax. I know it is hard, but rest for you right now is the most important thing. With you a better restful day.
Linda :)
preop I had problems with lots of body parts going numb and they would wake me up. Have you tried propping head up? (or most of body?) Laying flat had gotten impossible for me and I was sleeping in a recliner. I also used one of those microwave heat packs and took ambien before surgery.
