Where do I turn next?

My daughter has had an odd mix of puzzling symptoms since July. She has been diagnosed with migraines, and had also had a sleep study this past week which revealed: sleep apnea, restless leg, and 15 episodes of third degree heart block which occurred during the sleep study. We had been sent back to our pediatric cardiologist (she had previously been diagnosed with moderate prolonged QT). She also has periodic fainting spells with convulsive like movements (EEG's all normal).

Here is my question: Could any of this be due to Chiari I. Should I insist that she be tested for this?

Like Selma said, it could be several other conditions...BUT I would insist on a MRI of the brain and get someone to go over it with a fine tooth comb...Make sure you get a copy of the pictures and the radiologist report (something I didn't do right away and wished I had!)

Good luck..I hope it gets figured out soon!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Many of the symptoms u mention can be several different conditions.....I would not limit testing to just chiari, but they should be looking at several different conditions. What makes all this so frustrating and difficult is that many conditions share the same symptoms.

Did ur DD have a MRI of her brain?......if so, ask to see the report.

If u want to test bcuz u do not feel the long QT is an acurate dx, then do have her checked for POTS, Chiari, tethered cord, EDS, syringomyelia, MS, Lymes and Lupus......rule out as much as u can so u feel comfortable with the dx...and find a dr that specializes in the QT condition....if it is a wrong dx he/she will spot it sooner.

Good luck and do keep us posted
