symptems to expect after surgery

Hi, my name is David. I went through surgery on the 21st of Jan and I had to go through surgery to decompress the fluid caused by Chiari Malformation, which the doctors claimed I had growing up, but had no symptoms till after I fell at work and lost my job.
Now I'm having numbness and real bad non-like headaches plus dizzy and light headedness some chest pain (got test heart is perfect) tingling in some parts of body.
Has anyone gone through this surgery, if so can they say if this is normal or not, before I make an nuisance out of my self and keep going to hospitals, or calling for help.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Your mother had surgery and is still having issues?....We are aware of the Chiari Institute in Barcelona....and yes it may be a lot more money....but we also suggest you research the Drs and the results they have b4 you put trust in any Dr....

There is also a list for the UK that is part of the Ann Conroy Trust not sure if that would be of any benefit to you??

Hi 1982David34 and welcome to the Chiari forum.

There will be some symptoms and issues post op....but I do have a few questions for you.....

Chiari is congenital, so we have it from birth...and some do not think they had symptoms growing up bcuz they always felt  that way and had no idea it was not normal....or that it was a symptom....many times the symptom may be considered to be due to a flu, cold or other illness as it may not have lasted long or returned....Chiari symptoms cycle and flare ...this makes it difficult to DX and treat.

That said....what exactly did you have done during your surgery....decompression for Chiari can also include having a laminectomy of C1 and C2, and having a dura plasty....if you had the dura plasty what type of patch?
Were ALL related conditions ruled out?

Was/is your Dr a true Chiari specialist?
