uncontrollable shaking?

Last night coming home from our son's football game, I felt pretty normal for once.  I was bragging about it to my husband and about 20 minutes into our drive home I had this intense pressure on the left side of my head down the back of my neck.  Felt a little off.  We arrived at home and I went right up to bed.  Things got very strange.  My hearing was coming and going, tingling in my feet and r-hand.  I was twitching, shaking, and slightly jerking.  I remember looking at my hand and I think I was hallucinating.  It did not look like my hand???  I was overwhelmed with fatigue suddenly.  Maybe 15 or so minutes passed, and I felt out of body like, barely made it down stairs to my husband and laid on the floor shaking uncontrollably for about a half hour he said.  Then I fell asleep.

What just happened?  I had similar episodes the two days before last night, but they were short lived.  I have chiari, possible hemiplegic or basilar migraine, my r-brain tonsil and l-vertebral artery is squeezing my brain stem.  Could this cause something like this to happen, and does anyone else experience these episodes?

Yes I get the shaking also, but does not seen as bad as everyone else has described, mine usually happened first thing in the morning, my arms, legs just shook uncontrolably, lasting 10 mins them would stop, it now happens more frequently and at anytime.

The only way I can describe it is like the panic stricken rush you get when you have had a fright or say a near miss in yr car, its like the adrenalin hit  you get afterwards.  I get very spaced out and really have to concentrate to think straight or act logically.

So glad I can share this with people as at times these symptoms freak me out, but sharing with you all makes me realise im not making these symptoms up its not all in my mind I am sane and this is not stress related, like most dr's try and have you believe.

Hi...I have heard of others having seizure like shaking and episodes......have you had the decompression surgery? And were other Chiari related conditions ruled out?

I used to get what I called a tremor like issue but in my arms....and once years and years ago long b4 I had y Chiari DX I had a seizure like episode but it never returned. It is possible to have varied symptoms that change..as the pressure points move and change so will our symptoms...and we can experience anything with our brain stem and spinal cord being compromised.

Try www.essentialtremor.org and www.wemove.org.  I have had the same thing for almost a year now.  get plently of rest.  Keep the Caffeine down to a dull roar.  No high energy drinks.  Electric blanket or throw helps with the pain that comes after it all.  A nap in the middle of the day helps charge the batteries.  I have had to figure all this out on my own as there was no answers for me either a year ago.  Get with your doctor.  I am on several medications you will need to find your own combination as what works for one person does not always work for some one elese.  Primidone works well but if u take took much it makes you hurt.  Neurotin is a good one.  Xanax is another and if an over the counter pain med does not work try Tramadol,  Vicodin or Percicet are really watch those 2.

I have had similar episodes.  The one time I awoke to find piles of blankets on me. My daughter covered me up thinking I was shaking cause I was cold.    I thought they were seizures but doc didn't seem concerned.

I would talk with your doctor it sounds like seizures to me

I've also had similar episodes, but they only lasted a few minutes. I've wondered if it's some kind of seizure activity, but my dr didn't seem very worried about it, but then I was going over a list of 20+ symptoms at the time.

I have experienced episodes like you describe (Confused & disoriented) but only for a few minutes. I get the intense pressure like you describe just before I have this and I get the fatigue after. I get the shaking in my right hand and have past out with it.
The  Dr say it is some kind of Syncope (Fainting blackout)
You need to talk to your NL about this....

I have just been diagnosed with chiari. Approximately one wk ago my head began shaking and jerking. The first episode lasted maybe 30 mins before I finally fell asleep.  I have continually had my right hand shaking and weakness in my right leg.  Some days are better than others.  Today though I woke, felt ok, just extremely tired. I took a shower and felt dizzy, then began with the head shaking.  It reminded me of someone with Parkinsons. This lasted about an hr, would stop and a rush would come over my body almost like the sensation of a first morning cigarette (body tingling, warm and relaxed)...then the shaking would start again.  It continued today from 5 AM till 1PM.  A few breaks in between.   The ER doctor gave me Vicodin, Tramadol, and nausea meds on top of the flexeril i am prescribed.  I took a flexeril to help with the muscle spasms and an hr later took a Vicodin the head shaking stopped.  Why am I doing this?  Is this normal for chiari?
