4 year old with seperation problems

I have a 4 year old son who acts out to make sure he gets attention. His father and I divorced over a year ago but he still sees his dad often. My son is fine when he is getting all the attention and he knows how to behave, but when someone comes over he will act out to make sure we know he is there. When I am alone he will stay in his bed at night, when there is someone with me he will come out several times. He wants to sit in the bathroom while I shower because he says he wants me. He goes to a babysitter every day and plays with other kids and does fine. It is starting to cause problems in my relationship because he is very whiney and wont let me leave the room without being right beside me. i need some help trying to figure out what to do.

He may suffers that the family is not together anymore and is in stress to be left alone. İ would give him the attention he needs so that he feels secure, it will be better in some time....

In my opinion what you have described is normal behavior , you are his mom ...also if he is with other people ie babysitter during the day he wants and needs you around the other times ...he really is asking for more attention, does the BF I assume you have pay him any positive attention as that's what he is asking for ....
