If he behaves well at school (he's in 2nd grade maybe?  so this is his 3rd year of school?) that's a positive.  He has the desire to please adults and can get along reasonably well with the kids at school,  and has a reasonable number of friends in his class?

This is one of two things:

1.  You really could use some parenting classes and help with parenting skills

OR

2.  It's very very difficult for him to behave all day at school and he stores up his rage until he gets home.

Do either one of those things sound possible?

He does go to school. He is good at school it's just at the house, and when we go out somewhere or he dosent get his own way that's the problem.

Does he attend school?  Behavior like this would certainly have been evaluated before he got to 8 years old.

You can call his pediatrician or you can go directly to a local teaching hospital's department of child psychiatry. If you're concerned about insurance, call you provider and ask for in-network child psychiatry programs. Do NOT wait for this to go away by itself or to see what happens when he gets older. You're saying he's trying to kill himself - there's an underlying problem that needs to be evaluated and treated. You would never forgive yourself if something happened to him and you didn't act to get him help. If you need help locating appropriate resources in your area, and you feel comfortable doing so, post your general location and we can try to direct you to reputable resources in your area.
