8 yr old step son urinating in room

My step son has been urinating in his room both at night and during the day. The bathroom is right next door. He tries to hide it (ie urinating down a heat vent, behind his bed, etc.). When his father and I cover up a spot he finds a new spot to hide it.  When asked about it he always starts out with " I didn't do anything." Then he does tell the truth. When asked why he did it he says he can't hold it.

Obviously he has seperated parents. They have been seperated since shortly after he was born. They have a decent relationship as well as my relationship with her. There are differences between my step son's homes. For example we require him to have a bed time where at his mother's house he doesn't, we also have more of a structured environment for him where it is more relaxed at his mother's house.

My step son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. He also has a speech delay that was diagnosed about the age of two. He has speech therapy at school. He has been having problems at school this year with academics as well as behavior. His father, mother and I all feel that his behavior has gotten worse this past year.

Sometimes the prescribed Meds can have side effects it may be worth taking him to the Doctor to see if the meds need adjusting or changing, I would do that first .When you say you have a structured enviroment does that mean you have rules etc that  he is not used to ,how does he take them is he happy or does he argue back, does he seem to like being with you, happy when he arrives, something is upsetting him at your house, have you asked his other Family if he urinates with them. Get his Dad to play games and outside sports with him, he may respond more and tell you why he is doing it, children nearly all say they dont know.Ask the other Family for input.
