I am not a doctor, but I will tell you that a good friend of mine who now has two beautiful and intelligent daughters - had one daughter that did not utter a word until she was two.  Then all of the sudden she came out with a full sentence one day and nearly gave everyone heart failure.
Don't stress too much.  If your that concerned ask your doctor for a referral.

doc...says his everything is normal - your words

Maybe the doctor is wrong - have you asked for a second opinion?  I agree with RockRose on this - I suspect he is unable to talk; I suspect that he is not choosing to be silent or not to respond.

One more thing - your son reminds me of our nephew.  He was diagnosed with "developmental apraxia of speech".  Could this be the issue?  I might suggest that you google the phrase in quotation marks to see if any of the descriptions remind you of your son.  Of course there are other disabilities which could account for a child not speaking as "selective mutism" or "high functioning autism".  Perhaps others on this site might be able to offer more suggestions.   But whatever, I suspect your son will require additional support and/or speech therapy than what the family is  able to offer.  Hope this helps ...

Children don't refuse to talk.

They don't talk because,  somehow,  they are unable.

Talking is an incredible joy for children.  If they can't do it,  it isn't because they choose to withhold.

We have a speech forum on MH you may find some extra help there I am sure that if you are concerned you could get another opinion ,is his hearing okay does he respond to you when you talk, look up so you know he has heard ,did the doc check him out with his hearing?
