I need help with my 5 year old!

Hello! I am a mother of a 4 soon to be 5 year old little boy. I am haviing lots of trouble with him. A lot of people are telling me that he is at the testing age but I just do not believe that. He has always been a good boy but for the past few months he has been out of control. He will not listen to a word I say. I usually put him to bed about 8:30 and it is around midnight before I can get him to sleep. I have to fight with him for hours. This happens every night. For most of his life he has been the type to stay up half the night. I whoop him and stick him in corners but it does not help either. He just looks at me and laughs. He is a big boy. He's about 65lbs but rather solid than chunky. So I struggle with him when I try to whoop him. I am a full-time online student and work about 30 hours a week. He is taking every bit of energy I got. I am not sure what else to do. I have cute off all snacks and juice after 6 because a doctor told me that would work. It did not work though. Can anyone help me at all? I am willing to take in all suggestions.

I don't know about the snack cut off.  Sounds like you have your hands full with your son and other obligations.  I know it probably wears you down.  Has something recently changed in his life, like a move, divorce, death, etc.  Maybe that is why he is acting out.

To RockRose a person can be a full time worker and a full time student. If you take 12 hours or more in school it is considered full time. I agree with RockRose that a child of that age does take every bit of our energy. They are extra hyper at the toddler and adolescent stages. Whooping is another term for spanking that is generally used in the south.

We as parents sometimes have to evaluate our selves to see is it something that we are doing or not doing. You may want to try a child psychologist to see where the anger is steaming from. I have issues of my own that I am dealing with and it is hard not knowing what is wrong with your child. If all else fails try some type of family counseling I think that is what I am going to do.

Your profile states that you are a full time worker,  full time student,  and full time mom.

No you aren't.

You can  only be  a full time one thing,

I don't even know what it means to "whoop" a child,  but I think it's really ugly.

A preschooler should take eery bit of energy you "got".  That's a full time job,  a preschooler.
