My 5 years boy likes to be a girl

Hi Dear,

I hope some one can help me how to deal with the problem.   I have a 5 years old boy and 3 years old girl.   My son wants to watch girls movies like Cinderella.  He is not interested to watch a bad man movie or to have a toy for boys.    The other day my daughter told me that in the school in front of other kids he said he is a beautiful girl.    Please help me how should I deal with this?   Your help will be greatly appreciated

My son is 13 years old.  When he was five, he told me all he wanted for his birthday was red sparking shoes like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. He also loved to play with Barbies. Yes, I was pretty freaked out and thought he would be teased and ridiculed at school when he got older.
He seems to be fine now.  He has never gotten in to the sports thing but loves other normal boy things, like his Gameboy games, playing with swords, ect.  He has many guy friends with simular interests, and he seems to be very popular with his peers.  He still is not interested in the girl thing yet, but I have heard many girls like him.  I still do not know what will become of him.  But what I do know is that he is the sweetish, most loving kid with a great sense of humor.  And he seems to be alright with himself.
I guess that is all one can ask for with any child.

how long has this been going on?  maybe he feels that his sister gets more attention, has a better relationship with people, or that things are easier for her because she's a girl. My daughters best friends brother was like that.  The boy has every hip boy-toys on the market, but he played with her dolls and watched her movies and even wanted his bedroom painted pink with a lace comforter.  He is now 14 and normal.   At about age 10 he made friends of his own and became the boy we knew he was. I don't know your situation, but in that case it was single mom, daughter and him.  maybe he was joining the crowd.  Maybe you could get him a Big Brother.(the organization not adoption.)
