My kid doesn't listen to anybody

I'm normal Indian women. My husband is a business man. I have two kids one is 6 years(male) and one is 8months.Problem is with  the my son. He doesn't listens to any body. To make him listen we have to beat  him or we have say if u do this we will give u something , otherwise he doesn't listen. He is a very sharp boy he understands every thing within no time. He doesn't get ready to the school, he doesn't do the the homework.Though he is clever he doesn't utilize it. When I show him something new to solve, he simply says no ,he don't want to try even.

Perhaps you need to supervise him , and make sure he has enough time in the morning to get ready for school, chioldren hate to be rushed , when he has to do homework ,you be there and make sure he does it, dont simply leave it to him, it is possible he needs more direction.He sounds like an intelligent boy perhaps there is some laziness there,could it be the way you show him something new to solve ,does he have plenty of outside activities and sports ,ball games, children respond to Physical  activities, get his Dad involved in some sport.with him.
