Will weight gain cause Adderall be less effective??

Please help. My son is autistic. He has bowel issues. He can hold in an enema. He is on several meds. Adderall, Metformin, Risperdol, clonidine. I'm wondering if the weight gain is causing the adderall to be less effective. He's on 20mgs in the morning and 10mgs in the afternoon. He complains about he can't focus any more. It's making him very upset and very hard to deal with. I'm at my wits end. He will only deal with me. I feel like I'm a terrible mother. Please if someone has any ideas? This is very hard to watch him go through.

Oh, just checked and another side effect of risperdol is constipation.  And constipation will slow down the effectiveness of stim meds.   It might be worth your time to ask your doc about something else besides the risperdol.  It may be what is causing many of the problems.  
  Clonidine has had some very good reviews.

   Talk with his doctor.  Risperdol has a known side effect of weight gain, among other things.  Also depending on when he takes the Risperdol, that could be effecting how well the Adderall is working.  Has there been a change in any of the meds since the time he has complained of the Adderall not working?
   Typically, weight gain is not supposed to effect the effectiveness of Adderall.  
   Things that can  effect it are taking orange juice (or any citric acid product) before the medication.   And, of course, the medication not lasting as long as it should is usually a good sign that the dosage is too low.  So that is another good reason to talk to your doctor.
    Make sure he has a good high protein breakfast, that will help the medication.
