Could my son have aspergers?

My son is a very calm, well behaved 7 1/2 year old.  He has been diagnosed with inattentive type ADHD.  He is extremely bright.   He can only were certain clothes because others "don't feel right".  He constantly clears his throat. He has very poor motor skills, cannot ride a bike, catch a ball, tie a shoe, use a fork properly. He has melt downs where is screams for everyone to get away from him.  He has a fear of loud noise.  Could it be more than ADHD?  Could it be aspergers?

Have you talked to a developmental pediatrician about this? You could also ask the school for their input. Aspergers is no longer a diagnosis that is given out. Since autism is a spectrum disorder people with aspergers are considered to have a high functioning form of autism.

Mark has a good point.  Of course if that person was a pediatrician, you might want to see a specialist.
Having said that - his symptoms sound a lot like Sensory Processing Disorder or SPD (sometimes also called sensory integration disorder -SID).  Its a fairly new disorder and often gets mistaken for AD/HD.
This is a very good site with info on it - http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/
And we have a person on medhelp with extensive experience with SPD as her own son has that problem.  That site is here - http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Sensory-Integration-Disorder-SID/show/1396
Let me know if the SPD site is helpful.  Best wishes.

This is a question that you should be asking the one who diagnosed your son with ADHD.
