Is it Mild Obstructive Disease?

I had a Lung function test and the interpretation is mild obstructive lung disease.

I smoked infrequently years ago; I also
returned from Iraq in Sept 09 where I ran  outside 3-4 days a week, it was dusty often but I only ran when it was  clear.

I noticed a persistent light cough since returning from Iraq, the cough seems to be more noticeable when running.
But it does not prevent me from completing 5-7 miles at a pretty good pace.

Does all this fit with the diagnosis and if the diagnosis is correct is it CURABLE or does one just endure like asthma or other life long ailments.

Thanks you,
B

Nope. I sit atop the Palisades. Plenty of trees. Plenty of feral animals slipping through the gardens. No apartments. Fresh air and, this month - wisteria. I suggested that, if you have bronchitis you go back for another breathing test. If you are congested with bronchitis the test may be misleading.

Thank you for your reply...makes sense.

I see you are from 'Joyzee' also... Hopefully not close to Bayonne where the breathing is less healthful.

By the way, if you get rid of your cough, go back for another test.

COPD is not curable because it involves destruction of lung tissue. Is your cough productive? If so you might have some degree of chronic bronchitis. If you do, take 500 mg. of vitamin B5 daily. That should give you relief. It is a mucus thinner and a natural anti-inflammatory. No side effects and it is cheap and effective. I have chronic bronchitis, relatively severely, and take twice that dosage. It has allowed me to get off nasty medications that made me quite ill.
