pulmonary nodule

I had a Ct scan last week . it was to check for kidney stones. They called today and said they found a pulmonary nodule on mt left lung that was 11mm . I am 33 yrs old and never smoked .I have had pneumonia several times since 2002. I had a x-ray in 2006 and the Dr said he found a spot but , it was either scar tissue or a calicum deposit . Should I be worried ? I am not sure that this one is in the same spot as before . I am scheduled for another Ct scan on Thursday. I have asked for the earlier x-rays .

You are wise to check your old x-rays with the new. If there is no change I would not get upset. The last thing anybody needs is unnecessary surgery.

My brother has a "spot" on his lung which concerned his doctor. But I remember clearly that when he was very young the spot was there. The doctor at the time said it was a healed tubercular lesion. He had never had any symptoms of the disease. That was not uncommon.

I also had a nodule on my lung and they could not figure out what it was so I recently had it removed.  Turns out it was a fungal infection....I would not totally freak out because of this but I would ask the doctor to do a PET Scan....along with another CT Scan or possibly they can do a broncoscopy to see what this is?  I would ask your doctor.  Good Luck to you!
