Hello Alee,
I am 47 years old male, I was in hospital for 30 days ICU with pneumonia that left scarring in both my lungs, my pulmonologist said the scarring is permanent that it does not go away, i am on prednisone since the hospital last August, no sprays, but there are good days of breathing for me and not so good days, he said that after a lung function test I have a mild case of COPD, so still being treated for this, I since purchased one of those finger meters and I test my oxygen from home, you should go see a pulmonologist to measure what type of damage occured, have you done a "lung function test"? you should talk to your doctor and get a referral to see a specialist that is what you need.
Hi alee--Your outcome depends totally on how much scarring has occurred. The more damage the harder it is for your body to function. Sounds to me like your doctor has not done a very good job of educating you about your condition. You should push hard towards getting in to see a Pulmonologist. A Pulmonologist is a heart and lung specialist who sees people with lung scarring on a daily basis. You need to talk to someone who REALLY knows what they are talking about--good luck!
