Is anyone retreating with Sovaldi/Riba after failing 1st time?

Just wondering if anyone has had success retreating with this combo after previously relapsing. Our dr told us today we would be retreating for 24 weeks instead of 12. If not then what are my other options for this geno?

Hi sorry to be so late, I just saw this.  Have you had your thyroid checked?  Many people have thyroid problems with Interferon.  Even though I was on medication my thyroid got really out of of line.  I did not realize it for months, lost a lot of hair
Good luck

Hi I have Hep C, stage 4 liver damage, chirossis, spenomegaly. No acsites, varices or pain. I was diagnosed in 2001 with hep c geno 1a. I started researching alternative therapies which kept my liver functioning and maintained for the past 15 years taking herbs and supplements. Last year was the first time I was treated with Triple Therapy - Interferon, Riba and Sovaldi ~ failed it ~ made me sick as a dog!  Now I'm on the 6 month Harvoni only. The viral load came back undetectable in the first 2 weeks. I am cautiously optimistic because after ending treatment the viral load has to come back negative after 6 months. So we'll see, in the meantime my only complaint is the ridiculous weight gain! I don't really ahve much of an appetite yet I gain weight by breathing:(

Thank you and best wishes to your SVR! I think the problem with my husband is since his geno is usually easier to cure they are putting him in that category and not treating him long enough. He's a chronic relapser and has advanced cirrhosis so I feel they should treat him longer than what they have been doing so I'm praying we treat for 24 weeks this next time and pray we reach SVR!

I kind of wish that I were treating for 24 weeks but this may be just the Nervous Nelly in me and my very keen desire to have this be the last time I have to treat

Good luck to you and you partner! Some of us are more challenging to treat than others but there is SVR at the end of the tunnel

Yes

you can get lots of info and feedback at the Hep C Community page

I am cirrhotic and relapsed on Sovaldi/Olysio and am currently undergoing 12 weeks of Harvoni with Ribavirin

There are others in that forum in the same boat - harder to cure but still seeing amazing success rates
