That is lovely to hear, Promise. You have to have hope. And everyone here benefits from the support of their friends who are also on this journey
As Hector says, we are so lucky, despite having Hep C and liver disease, to be here, right now, in this moment in history where the tide has begun to turn and where a cure is not only possible but quite likely - despite where you are on your journey
Your husband is a lucky man to have someone like you to be his advocate, to learn as much as you can about this disease and to ask important questions
Good luck to you both and I look forward to hearing that your husband has achieved SVR!
Don't forget to take care of yourself too!
I am glad you are feeling better. Keep being proactive and helping your husband to get the medical help he needs. Information is power. The more we know about our health the better we can help ourselves and get the care we need from others who can help us.
There has been no better time for optimism concerning hepatitis C and liver disease. We have seen great leaps forward in the last few years. Things that no one thought possible even a few years ago are now almost taken for granted today. The pace of new hepatitis C treatments has never been faster. We have come from 48 weeks of poorly effective treatment to 12 weeks and less of very effective treatment and cure rates that have more than doubled over recent years. Not to mention the huge reduction in treatment side effects. As I have mentioned, ALL folks (co-infected, cirrhotic, post transplant) with chronic hep C infection are now treatable and with very high success rates. While new treatments are now in development and some being studied in clinical trials for those who have been unsuccessful treating with some of the newer DAA treatments. Of course all who failed interferon treatments are treatable and very successfully so with the new DAA treatments.
Be well and keep advocating for your husband until he is able to cure his hep C and begin the reversal his liver disease.
Remember your questions and comments are always welcomed here and we are always here with moral support or medical information that may help you and you husband to get through this current situation and get him the best care for his hep C and cirrhosis.
