vomiting

I haven't been in here for awhile, My husband has esld, Had Hep C ,took harvoni and was cured. He still needs a liver, But 4 months after he was finished with the harvoni he started vomiting every second or third day, this has been going on for 6 months now, The doctor doesn't have a answer for us,  He has been on the transplant list for 5 years now, His meld is 14 but he's sick, He gets He but is on meds for that, water pills ect, Had the tips in 2011 because of a bleed out , liver cancer probed that out, diabetic,  and high blood pressure. We have been going through this for years and I've studied up on esld,, I just can't figure out the vomiting, which happens day or night with or without food, Any suggestions may help thank you linda

Hi Linda.

I am feeling better as time goes on since my transplant.I am still having some post transplant issues probably related to my immunosuppressive medications. I hope to be switching my current meds for others soon to see if we see any improvement in my symptoms.

I still volunteer at my liver transplant center supporting others "pre" and "post" through the transplant process. I am also a peer-to-peer liver cancer counselor with my cancer center as well. So I try to stay active in the community.

Tell Gary I said "hi" and am wishing him my best.
Take well.

Vomiting is not a complication of cirrhosis, or hep C treatment for that matter, so I really have no idea what the problem could be. I would recommend he talk to his primary doctor or to a gastro and have a thorough work up for conditions causing vomiting. I assume GERD has already been eliminated? He should have an endoscopy to look for abnormalities and they can also study the swallowing process if need be as well.

I am not sure what you said about liver cancer. If he had developed liver cancer at any point he should have gotten cancer MELD exception points and already gotten a liver transplant from accumulated MELD points.

Hopefully his liver disease and symptoms will improve over time now that he has been cured of his hep C.

Good luck to you both.
