Persistent Cough - Gagging

My girlfriend and I both caught the local bug ~2 weeks ago.  I recovered normally though she has not.  She remains congested and in the past 2 days has developed an awful cough that is causing her to gag.  It's not a dry sounding cough either, it's really got that deep painful cough sound to it.

~6 months ago we found a massive growth of mold in the wall of our apartment.  We moved from there and now in our new place the same mold is popping up in little spots.  We live in a decently rainy area so this isn't uncommon but I was wondering if that might be contributing at all to her condition.

mold could for sure play apart in it...with her still couphing it kinda sounds like it could be cronic broncitous (excuse my horrible spelling). she should go to her doctor, she will proubly give her a puffer to help--i say this because a friend of mine had it and an ex of mine as well, my friends went away, but he had that horrible cough and gag's. my ex is the one with the cronic broncitous....hope this helps... oh also try some hot water--lemon---honey to drink along with chicken broth--the cubs (2-in a cup for 1-2 minutes in microwave, make sure they are not the ones with low sodium), also go to your local drug store and get some liquid menthol and add that to boiling water and breath it in...proubly wont cure it but this will proubly help till you can see a doctor....hope this helps..

That sounds completely plausible to me, I recently also came down with a similiar bug and ended being diagnosed with a fungus infection, I too was coughing to the point of gagging.  It was pretty gross and the stuff I was coughing up was bright yellow, but the secretions from my nose were clear.
It was too weird.  I would reccomend that she go to the doctor and get checked out.  I would be afraid it would turn into pneumonia or something.  Good luck.  Sharon
