taking cold meds with other meds

Hi there,
I just wanted to ask is it ok for me to take"nightnurse" caps for colds whilst I am taking citalopram 20mgs nightly, also 75ms levothyroxine daily?
have had a cold recently, but am nearly always nasally congested and headachy despite steam olbas oil  inhalation.
am 49 yr old female going through perimenopause, also underactive thyroid which was diagnosed  nearly 3 yrs ago, when was feeling really tired.headaches etc-.
end 2007-2008 my ibs really started acting up, have suffered for years, end 2008 colonoscopy, barium x-rays etc showed nothing but a few diverticula, just put down to stress, as am currently under a lot of stress, anxiety going through divorce.
also 2009 tried hrt patches for a short while, which i stopped after few months, cant remember why.
citalopram was also offered which seemed to help me. Last time I had them was beginning this year, then I stopped, found a packet and have been taking them for a week, stopped hrt patches again 4 weeks ago, had been on them since June.
reason I stopped again was thought they were making my stomach probs, ibs/bloat worse?
now Im not so sure they were culprit, as stomach probs still much the same.maybe should have stayed on hrt as I think they helped re hot sweats etc-?
Am off to docs this week and I know she,ll probably tell me off for stopping and starting hrt again, and suddenly starting back on citalopram , think probably a lot my problems/symptoms are stress related, bad stomach, headaches, sleeplessness.
Am sick of feeling so unwell, maybe its normal and to be expected all these problems as we get older?
Anyway if anyone here knows if its safe to take "nightnurse" capsules with the meds Im currently on I would be very gratefull.
Thanks
loz

Hello it will probably be fine.  But you really need to verify this with the doctor who prescribed the other medications.

Yes your doctor will probably be upset with you for stopping and starting and stopping your medications again.  It is very, very DANGEROUS to do this without being over seen by your doctor and being instructed when and how to do so.  The reason being is the meds add chemicals to your body and the abrupt starting and stopping etc. without proper titration can cause unwanted side effects like fatigue, severe rebound symptoms of what the med was prescribed to treat, rapid heart rate, seizures, heart attack and even death, so please only stop or start a medication with your doctor's approval.

I Hope This Helps    Have A Nice Night!
