While, like the doctor above says, it depends on the underlying cause and your treatment and how you respond and all, if it helps give you any encouragement, I can tell you that in 2010, due to MMPEs, my heart was enlarged. After treatment, and staying on my medication, within one year, my heart went back to what is considered normal size for me, and it has stayed that way for two more years since then. Definitely is possible for some people to 'go back to normal'... good luck!
