Rorator cuff surgery with pacemaker

I have been suffering with ripped rotators for years. The pain is excrutiating and I can't seem to get anywhere with the local Drs. I have a pacemaker and a defibrilator and have been advised that this surgery can't be done because I have those. The Drs. say I can't be put to sleep so I continue to suffer day and night. Is there anything I can do such as have a local block and do the surgery awake?

Thanking you in advance and praying you will have an answer that can solve my problem

Sincerely,
Eddie

So, the doctor says he cannot repair the rotator cuff because you have the ICD?  Have you thought about a second opinion?  I'm not a doctor, but that doesn't seem right...I can't imagine that folks with cardiac implants cannot have ortho surgery...hmmmm

You may want to try posting a question on one of the "Expert" forums (see right hand column, scroll down).  The doctors only take a couple of questions, day, but you may want to give it a try.  Also, check out the orthopedic community:  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/60

Sorry, I wish I could offer more help.
