Thank you so much for your advice. I guess with all that I've dealt with in the past with the rheumatoid, including frequent chest pain, I assumed in all my stubbornness and thinking I could deal with it, I would do just that. However, you made me think twice. I did go to my doctor. I had a chest x-ray and they found a pleural effusion. I am being treated and I promise never to try to diagnose or treat myself again. Thanks again for responding.

Hi
You should immediately go to the emergency department of a hospital for a complete evaluation of your chest pain.
Any mild or sever chest pain , lasting more than a few minutes, along with sweating, tightness of chest, difficulty in breathing or radiating to the arm, left shoulder, arm, or jaw may be needs to be urgently evaluated medically.
Any part of the chest can be the cause of the pain including the heart, lungs, oesophagus, bone, muscles, but it is important to rule out life threatening conditions like heart attack, angina, pulmonary embolis, pneumothorax or aortic dissection.
The doctors at the ED will diagnose the condition based on presenting symptoms, ECG and cardiac enzymes.
