prognosis

My 82 year old dad had his 1st heart attack today. Upon cath, apparently all 6 arteries are completely blocked and the Dr. was amazed he was alive. My dad is refusing surgery and my question is this, I am in Hawaii and he is in Seattle. Given his situation, should I get on a plane now? He also has Stage 1 or 2 prostate cancer. What do you think his mortality rate is? Hours, days, months?

Thank you. I know the answer cannot come from anyone on this bulletin board, it has to come from within and above. I guess I was just looking for some comfort! Actually, he is my father-in-law of 32 years and having to weigh this same decision in December with my own father, I think I was a little overwhelmed. He did undergo a cath yesterday to unblock 1 artery and came through the procedure well. I am quite certain that we will travel to at least assist with aftercare and future plans. Thank you again for your kind words.

The only one who can answer your question isn't going to be found on this bulletin board.

Just some friendly advice, though, at any age a heart attack can take a life, and at 82, with heart problems, and cancer, the odds are quickly adding up against your Dad.
