My daddy just passed away August 19, 2010. He had lung cancer and congestive heart failure. He was in the hospital for a week they were just routinely draining the fluid off of him because he had to take prednison, which built fluid up on him. HE WASN'T SICK, like with a cold or anything.... He was supposed to come home that Friday. Well Thursday morning, the nurse came in and gave him his morning breathing treatment, and for some reason he was having trouble breathing. Well i looked around and she forgot to plug his oxygen cord back up. It had been off for more that 3 hours! I plugged it back up and notified the nurses and all they had to say was sorry. He was sitting on the side of the bed happy, smiling, laughing, cutting up, like my old "papa bear" looking better than he had in months. Then all of a sudden an hour later and he was suffocating. COULD IT HAVE BEEN BECAUSE OF MALPRACTICE? Because of one nurses mistake? Because he was doing better than he had in months and then all of a sudden started gasping for air and stopped breathing. I am 22 years old, his baby girl. I am graduating college in May. I'm having his grandbaby in a few months, and I'm getting married also. I just want an answer to why my dad isn't here to walk me down the isle, hold his grandbaby, and watch me graduate. Expecially when he was doing so well with the chemotherapy. Is it because of some nurse's ignorant mistake?
