Does a colonoscopy always detect Crohns disease

I have had a colonoscopy and other tests in which I was told ruled out Crohns disease but could there be a chance it would not have shown up. I wish I knew all the tests I have had but there has been so many I don't know. All I know is for the past 4 years I have been throwing up 60% of the time if not more. At the beginning, it was within 20 mins of eating but then they dilated/stretched my esophagus. Now, I still throw up but it is normally within 15 to 24 hours after I eat. I was told I have 2 erosions on my esophagus, hiatal hernia, and chronic gastritis. They had to dilate my esophagus once since then but could it still be crohns? I seem to have all the symptoms but bloody stools, which I have had once, and weight loss. I am over weight and didn't loose any during the time I couldn't eat without it coming back up. I don't get it, any ideas?

I had an endoscopy two weeks ago, as a result of the disaster in helath care I endured.  Back in December I ended up being severely ill with an abscess in my colon.  The doctor in the ER was insistent that it would 'clear itself up' with oral antibiotics.  I went home and took them.  And ended up hospitalized for several days, as the abscess was worse and I was told they removed about 80mL of infection from my colon.   I had several CT scans that week, and it was determined I also had cyst on the tail of my pancreas, and did say that it was probably the reason for my stomach issues (nausea, severe pain a few minutes after eating and sometimes vomiting). This may be something you want to check into.  Pancreatic cancer has robbed me if a young cousin and aunt in the last 4 years, and is nothing to take lightly.  I suggest that you see if the doctor will order an endoscopy as your symptoms, as they sound severe.

Have you looked into your gallbladder?

Have you ever had an endoscopy? I would think that would show Crohns more than the colonoscopy as Crohns usually shows up in the small intestines first.
I, too, haven't heard of vomiting associated with Crohns. Have you ever been tested for Celiac? You might want to get tested for that. It's a simple blood test.

As for the person who's doctor said she's pre-Crohns. I've never heard of that either! You might want him to clarify what that means. It's possible to have it, go into remission, and not have any more flare-ups. Crohns varies from people to people. Some people have ulcers and inflamation all throughout their digestive tracts. Some people have one small area, like I did. I had it cut out because it was causing constriction. Now I'm in remission. It may or may not come back. Crohns can be tricky to diagnose, I guess.

I hope you find out soon what's going on. Keep at them and keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing.

I have gotten multi opinions but all the tests come back as me not having Crohns, I am unsure if vomiting is a symptom of Crohns. I have done blood tests, I was being tested anywhere from 2 to 3 times a week for about a month or so. I have all kinds of test, me drinking **** and them watching it go down. I have many of these, once they even turned me upside down and tried to make me swallow this cement like stuff. Needless to say, I couldn't have. There are a lot of foods I cannot eat, like sauce almost of any kind, nothing mexican, nothing spicy, and nothing dry. I know some of these are just related to my chronic gastritis  , the erosions in my esophagus, and my hernia but it just seem as though there is more. I refused the surgery for my hernia. Mine is extremely long and they only gave it a 10% chance of helping but then there are is a 75% it would come back. I know you can vomit from Crohns I just don't think it is one of the main symptoms. I work with a girl who has it, she just recently started and besides the weight loss I have all the other symptoms. I guess I am just looking for one thing to be wrong with me instead of ALL my medical problems. I have so many at the age of 29, I just feel that they are relate somehow. Thanks for the advice.

I don't know much about Crohn's but I did not that it caused vomiting. But it might have something to do with the hernia, my mom has had this kind of hernia for the last 6 or 7 years and has had many operations trying to fix it but no luck. She has not been able to eat much of anything and when she does it comes right back up. She drinks a lot of ensure for vitamins, She has lost over a 100+ lbs over the last few years, most of it was lost at one time.
I was told I had pre crohns about 4 or 5 years ago but I have no idea what the hell that means!!!? I have no signs of it other than the frequent diahrra but it is not like I have it all the time. I also have thyroid problems which could be hiding some of the digestive problems.
Have you given a stool sample? blood work? I would probably get a second opinion if you think it might be crohns!!!
