My hubby - need help/advice plz

Am hopeing to find someone on here who may be in same situation as my hubby. He had colon removed due to UC about 12 years ago. Then 10 years ago, he had a 're-build' (pouch). He then did ok until about 5 years ago when he was rushed to hosp with 'strangulation' in the part he had left. Since this op, he had nothing but trouble for another 4 years, then he was rushed in again early this year for 'another op'. At first, everything seemed fine, he was able to eat without pain and all looked great for about 3 months. Now the pain and trouble is back!....he cant eat without suffering for upto 3 days. Is on hi meds to control the pain, tho dont seem to do much! He's in cronic pain all day n night, in bed more than out of it, and on the loo upto 20 times a day AND night.

An ileostomy should solve all the problems if they just remove the remaining colon along with the j-pouch.  If he's suffering that much, it's not worth it just to avoid the ileostomy. Iknow that's not Wharton wanted to hear, but I learned the hard way that at some point, you have to make the decision for a better quality of life. I just wish I'd done it at 21 instead of 23!

Best wishes.

My brother had similar issues and he had a j-pouch created after the removal of his large bowel. Is his small bowel suffering from adhesions? What kind of diagnostic tests have they carried out so far?
