Bad taste and smell

I have been ill now for 2 years and got nowhere with doctors, despite averaging a visit every 2 WEEKS for the first year.  It is a long story but i'll try and keep it short!

It began 2 years ago one day at work.  I hadn't been feeling that gret for a while but this day it hit.  I had been out the night before celebrating a mates birthday and consumed a fair amount of alcohol.  I was sitting in work the next day (worked in a call centre at the time and the person sat next to me asked me something.  i turned to answer her and suddenly went REALLY dizzy/light headed.  it felt like the blood stopped flowing to my head.  my heart was pounding really hard and I was struggling to breathe.  i couldn't speak and the woman next to me was screaming ( apparently she hought I was having a heart attack!)

his lasted about 20 or 30 seconds or so.  Afterwards I didn't feel all that great but carried on working.  When I went out for my break I felt really light headed and was having these weird sensations where I felt like I was moving when I wasn't etc.  I didn't go to the doctor immediately but the dizziness/light headedness carried on so I went a week or so later.  I made an emergency apppointment so had to see the student doctor.  She didn't seem concerned and said it was probably some sort of virus/viral chest infection as I had been coughing up phlegm as well.  She got another doctor to check me over and he agreed with her, but said to come back in a month if it didn't pass.

A month later and the symptoms were getting worse.  I went back and saw a different doctor who just seemed to think i was wasting her time.  She checked my blood pressure etc and said again come back in a month.  By the time another month passed I was feeling really ill.  Anway these doctors visits continued, with them eventually putting it down to anxiety, which I was adamant it was not.

Still the doctors visist continued and eventually I saw someone who beleived there was something wrong and ordered some test.  This is a list of test I have had -
Standard blood test
chest x-ray
ECG (heart)
ENT clinic tests for inner ear problems and hearing.
MRI (head and neck)
Muscle enzyme blood test.
H.Pylori blood est.
Endoscopy (gastroscopy)
Abdominal Ultrasound
More blood test (unsure what for)
Blood sugar
Blood pressure
Eyesight

Don't think i've missed anything :)

And symptoms -

Dizziness/light headedness
Fatigue
Flu like symptoms
Pains and numbness/tingling in my arms/legs to the point where i was dragging my leg along as I walked to work.
Nausea
vomiting
abdominal pain which seems to have settled on the right, below and under my ribs(consant) and also slight pain lower right
Diarrhea
Really bad taste in my mouth/bad breathe and a bad smell
Mouth pain.
Pain over my kidneys

There are probably more but I can't think.  Anyway, when I had the endoscopy they found I had gastritis, threw some tabets at me and that was it.  All the other tests were negative.  I then received a letter from the hospital for a follow up appointment to my ultrasound.  The doctor there seemed more concerned and did a series of blood tests and ordered a barium meal and follow through which I have yet to have.  Anyway, the taste in my mouth is now so bad it is making me feel sick and i can't shift it.  Its a sort of sweet taste but disgusting at the same time.  My teeth have also bcome really bad since I became ill, but the tast is not dental as I have just spent nearly £1000 on dental treatment.

The doctor seemed to think it may be an IBD like ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease and says he will make me a priority as he thought I looked very ill.  Could this be an IBD.  I'm not convinced.  I am worried that it is my liver.  The fact that I was drinking fairly heavily the night before the 'turn' which started all this, the location of the pain and the fruity taste smell along with most of my other symptoms all point to liver probems don't they? I have had to give up work (not worked for over a year) and it takes all my energy just to get out of bed.  I also seem to have suffered some mental changes 9confusion, short term memory loss, mild depression) which has been getting a bit better as time passes.  i can no longer tolerate ANY alcohol, and was also sensitive to a lot of medications I was given (which I wasn't before this).

The doctors seem to have done liver function est which came back okay and dismised any liver problems.

Any advice would be great.  Sorry for the long story but I wanted to give as much info as possible.

Okay, had the Barium meal and doctor said there was nothing obvious showing.  He said he had to have a closer look but everthing looked okay.  This is kind of what I expected.  I am convinced this is a liver problem.

I haven't yet, but I have a barium meal and follow on Tuesday.  Was meant to be next month but I got a cancellation.  Is the taste/smell a symptom of UC/Crohn's?

If your live test came back normal, had you had tests to actually check for UC and Cronh's?  The symptoms sound similiar to UC/Cronh/s.
