Blood Tests

I have recently had bloods taken to be tested for crohns at my doctors request (I only went in for a check-up!) but after discussing a few symptoms he seemed quite keen to have me tested for it, so my bloods were taken.  In the interim i read up about crohns and did start to convince myself i have it and understood why the doctor was asking me such bizarre questions!

My results came back negative.  Which is great but my concern is: - Can they tell by a blood test if you have crohns?  I have all of the symptoms except 'loss of weight' but i only started gaining weight 2 years ago after i gave up gluten...and lots of other foods/drinks...this was my own decision not the doctors and this was one of his concerns!

If anyone can advise i'd apreciate, as i dont want to be a pain and insist they do more if blood tests ARE conclusive?!

Thanks
Laurajane

I also had blood work for a diagnoses but my GI told me that alone isn't conclusive. What seals the deal is a colonoscopy and biopsy and symptoms and ruling out everything else. Lucky, lucky me, those came back positive for Crohns Colitis :(

i have had many blood tests taken before actually having a colonoscopy (a year ago) and all the blood tests showed crohn's disease and i have diagnosed before having a colonoscopy from all the blood tests and other tests i had done.
