I too have chrons.  It is now in remission.  In late 06 and early 07 my chrons was rampid.
By Feb 07 I was losing weight rapidly and could not eat.  Taking pain pills and antibiotics for sever pain in lower right abdomen.  Then my Dr. sent me to start Remicade.  After just a few treatments I was feeling so much better.  By the way, I developed chrons late in life, I know it usually strikes young people.  Then I found that I had a fistula and surgery had to be done.  They took out about 2 feet of small intestine and did bowel resection.  There was a small cancer in that section but it was found early enough that I did not have to have further treatment, except I see the oncologist every 3 months.  Since my surgery, which was done laproscopically with hand assist, I have been feeling much better.  No flare ups.  I take maintenance drugs each day.  Hoping for the best.
Make sure you have a GI dr. who is up on all the chrons treatments.  Also, should you need surgery, find the best bariatric surgeon you can and make sure he has lots of experience in lapo surgery.

Hope your chrons is in remission soon.
