Ulcerative colitis pain??

Hi! I've had UC now for around 7yrs with very little problems. I had rectal bleeding as little as once a year, this has changed recently and has increased to a few times a month. I'm also on asacol tablets. The posts ive read on here describe their UC pain as crampy and in localised areas. I seem to be experiencing dull achie feeling in my lower abdimon, almost like period pains and it can sometimes progress further up my abdimon. My question is, does anyone else experience similar pain?? I would appreciate any feedback given. Thanks! :) x

Thanks so much for your comment! I see my gynaecologist yearly as I had an ovarian cyst and fallopian tube removed, due to a 27cm cyst growing on my ovary. Also had one and a half feet small bowel removed. That op was 10 years ago. I've had no problems from day one which is fantastic. I feel the ache pain is connected to my UC because my bleeding as become much more frequent, ive recently been informed that I have inflammation in my small bowel. So I need to ask my consultant if I have UC or crohns because UC doesn't effect your small bowel. Thanks again for your feedback!!

Pain in the lower abdomen, pelvis can be due to infection, pelvic inflammatory disease, UTI, STD, uterine fibroids, urinary bladder infection or cystitis. If you do not have any discharge and there is no other symptom then it can also be due to pinched nerve (either pudendal or spinal). These conditions are broadly classified as chronic pelvic pain syndrome. The intensity of pain depends on the degree of inflammation and thus compression. This can vary. IBS, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, and food causing gas can be the other possibilities.
Dull achy pain can persist in mild UC. However, other causes too need to be ruled out.
Please consult your PCP/gynecologist for primary examination followed by proper referral.
