What are your thoughts on what makes you flare up?

In Dec 2006 I had a remicade treatment and enjoyed a wonderful remission.  But not from pain.  Finallly I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and this Feb 2008, I had a hysterectomy.

I have been at home recovering and what doyou know.  Mr. Crohn's colitis is visiting me again.  My GI said my last colonscopy showed UC and not CD.  He said I had a mild case in the rectum.  WEll, if this was mild I never want to be moderate.

My question is do you think I could be developing a flare because of the surgery recovery process?  Scar tissue or adhesions that are making me ripe for the inflammatory process?

I truly believe that stress and/or mood has been my biggest trigger.  Yes, certain foods like corn get me every time.  But what never fails, guaranteed makes me sick are the stressful events like going back to school, worrying about my job, trying to lose 5 pounds, etc.  The best thing I do is to repeat my mantra to let go of the things I cannot change.  Take a few minutes every day and try some deep breathing.  I take a hot bubble bath.  It probably relieves tension in little muscles down in my abs that I don't even know about.  Don't let this be a time to overwhelm yourself with everything you need to get done, or worries about your health or this and that.  Just tell yourself that it is your healing time, and your body needs you to truly relax, and then count your blessings and think of everything you can truly be happy about.  I even started keeping  a small scrapbook where I glue in little pictures, recipes, notes to myself, inspirational quotes...when I'm in a tough spot I pull out the book and there's something that is guaranteed to at least make me smile.  Hope that helps a little!

I totally agree that mood and infections  (taking aintibiotics...which may be behindthis most recent flare).

Sleep---or lack of sleep--totally gets me  going as well.

Doncha just hate how people automatically think that diet is the #1  cuz of a flare?
