Fired coach for Facebook pic

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/07/laraine-cook-fired-facebook-photo-breast_n_4234128.html

What are your thoughts on this one, gang?

Me, I don't know if it's a "fireable" offense.  It lacks a lot, and part of what it lacks is common sense to not post things that you might not want certain people to see on Facebook.  But firing her and keeping her fiance on board as a coach?  He's the one who did the groping...  I don't care either way.  They are consenting adults.  I don't care to see this stuff in public, but Facebook is one of those things that you do not have to sit and look at if you do not want to.

I'm not sure if I could or would ever be fired due to dumb things posted on FB, but it could certainly stall my career.  We do and are expected to present a certain image, and rightly so.  We are in the public eye, and it's important.  I guess I will just understand why people feel the need to post certain things on FB.  Oh, and now that I know your on there......lol.

My opinion is, posting it was stupid. When you become a Teacher, Coach, etc. being a Role Model goes with the job. At first I thought both should have been reprimanded but she was the one that posted it. I think she should have been reprimanded but getting fired over it was a little harsh. My page is anything but G Rated and I am constantly deleting things I post. The Company I work for couldn't care less as long as I am making them money (but I never put my "Dirty Laundry" or discuss my Job on FB). I started my FB account because I have a small family that is scattered all over the country and friends that are also scattered all over the country and it was nice staying in touch. I now have 183 (+-) friends. I find it hard to believe there are 183 people that really like me let alone are my friends.

Well, I wouldn't consider this a fireable offense, but I can say this.  I know of more then one person who has thrown away their career over dumb things posted on facebook.  I also know that many prospective employers will check someones facebook page to see the sorts of things they post.  I am super careful about what goes on my page.  I keep it completely "g" rated - the world does not need to know everything.
