Republican, Democrat, Centralist... whatever you are, I think we'll ALL agree with what BBXX said above.

"...the US has turned a corner and it not going back..."

You have hit the proverbial nail, on the head.

All of us have been saying it, in our own way, that we're dissatisfied with the way things are being handled on the Left & the Right.

It's time for a revolution, and I don't mean a war or anything THAT dramatic. I mean a revolutionary change in the way we THINK about ourselves, our place in the world, and our individual place in society.

Honestly, we've ALL been living on an inflated dollar, and we're ALL guilty of overspending (yes you... I'm pointing my finger at YOU), and it's time for us to "adjust" our mindset and think differently.

Not sure what else to say...

Carl

I dont know... I seriously think the US has turned a corner and it not going back (unless God turns it).Good or bad depends on whom you ask. I think the majority that turned out for Obama turned out to get a message across, and that message was they like what he stands for.

You know what is a bit worrisome?  That someone like Bachmann or Palin will get the Republican nod, and wind up winning just because so many don't want Obama.  I think that would be a tragedy.  It seems most political experts though, don't think that will happen.  His comments on that were that Bachmann and Palin and a few others would get the vote of the extreme right, but then, no matter who runs that will happen.  Like the last election, its the Independents that determine the outcome, and even the Republican experts feel they are far too extreme for them.

Oh for sure he got caught up in the moment.  That's why I liked the part of the statement that said.."there were unrealistic expectations, but he was responsible in part for setting them".

I also don't disagree that perhaps a lack of experience hurt him.  However, I still think he can do more then the candidates I have seen so far.  I'm going to watch the debate on Wed., and it's not like I dislike any of them (well, a few scare me), but hey, if he didn't have experience before, he sure has it now.  I still have to say, it it were me voting, based on what I see right this minute, it would be Obama again.

Adgal, there was an unrealistic expectation of him, but even he got wrapped up in the moment, like most candidates do and said some things that he just could not get accomplished.  (Too many fingers in the pie.)  I still think the man has good intentions, but the promises were so big... the vision was too broad...

I don't know if you'll remember Bush #1's famous "No New Taxes" speech?  Taxes were about the first thing down the pipe from there and he lost all kinds of approval with one stroke of the pen.

I don't feel sorry for him. Like Teko said, he's running again. He doesn;t have to, but he is. ALL presidents age extremely fast during their terms...There are plenty of Reubs that distance themselves from each other. Decision 2012 will sum it up in a nut shell. I'm voting Obama.....

bbxx I dont think I would waste time feeling sorry for him, he IS voluntarily running for a second term. I do think that when he offered up entitlements to be cut during the debt ceiling crisis, dems all got psst and up in arms and passed a petition around to let him know that if he did not stand firm, they would withdraw their support. Again when the bush tax cuts got extended after he campaigned on ending them, was a big hit as well, even tho we all know it was for the greater good of the folks being held hostage on the unemployment checks and it was during the holidays as well. I still support him. Most still do and those tht are upset with him will vote for him anyway before they will a republican. What the poll is not telling us is that the stats are the same or worse for Congress and the Teaparty is losing their flavor, as well as the Republican agenda as a whole. So I think the whole country is disallusioned and fed up with government in general, then you try to thro something like a bachmann down its throat and everyone is sitting around going wtf? I mean its insulting to any rational human being to think a bachmann could rule this country. I am voting for Obama.

I think all US Presidents have good/positive 'intent' when they come into office, but that doesn't make them good presidents. A lot of it comes from experience in how to handle situations, in knowing when to ask for help, when to act on a situation, etc. in which I think he did poorly. He was brand new to politics/little experience, didn't ask for help or asked the wrong people(asking others with little experience), among other problems. I think he was somewhat naive as to how it all worked and told the public a lot of promises he didn't keep. It's difficult for any President, but those who have more experience can typically handle it all much better.

Question for you..how come it's ok for you to say things like that, but if one of us say's anything negative against a Republican candidate (especially Palin or Bachmann) you go off the deep end?  Yet you call others hypocrites....care to answer?

Yeah, me too.  And this is a particularly difficult time in the US history.  I'm not saying he was the saviour he was made out to be, but I do think his intent was positive.  He was very idealistic and I think he really believed he could make this work.  This commentator also talked a lot about the current political situation in general and said that the two parties are so divided now (which everyone knows and agrees with) that no President could accomplish much.  Personally, I think it would be the same situation with a Republican president and Democratic congress...no one can accomplish anything right now.

I think most of the people prior to getting to the whitehouse figure they will whip things into shape, but once they get there, everything is an uphill battle.

He does doesn't he.  I watched a commentator on Piers Morgan talking about him tonight.  I thought he made some interesting comments.

He said that part of the reason Obama's approval is so far down is that there was an unrealistic expectation set in terms of what he could accomplish.  Unfortunately he was a big part in setting that expectation.  Some of what has happened, no one could have handled in the time he has so far been in office.  But, he also made the mistake of not focusing on jobs enough until now.  Basically, this guy was a total "in the middle"..and Independant, and it was nice to hear feedback from someone who could see the pros and cons of Obama.  It was a good interview.
