Representative Michele Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican planning to seek the party's presidential nomination, said she would stoke U.S. economic growth by cutting taxes on corporate income and capital gains and considering elimination of the minimum wage.

I’m not defending the woman but I briefly searched it and didn’t see any credible resources (CNN, ABC, WNBC, Fox, etc.) It would seem to me if she actually did say it, it would be all over the news by now. Maybe she did but I would like to see more proof.

But if teens aren't earning any money, how are they supposed to pay to get experience?  Ay, this women gives me a headache..lol.

Well now I dont totally disagree with everything she says. I mean, I kind of like the idea where she said teens should pay employers to let them work. For experience......lol  That will really go over in a time when telling one of them teens to shut up and sit down is considered abuse.  LOL

I think she wants to eliminate minimum wage so companies then can hire alot of people at .50 cents an hour,. Whoppeee!

I honestly dont think that woman knows why she believes or even what she believes half the time. She thinks dems dont like her cause they want to be the first to put a woman in the office. LOL,,,, Oh dont get me started....

Yeah, the article wasn't clear behind her REASON to eliminate it, only that she wanted to eliminate it, period.

I'd be interested to know what her reason for eliminating it is before I pass judgement. If she's doing it so that employees will end up being paid MORE (because no one will take the job if the salary is low), then I'm all for it.

If she's doing it to open the door for companies to pay LESS, then I'm wholly against it.

I don't think there is an economist out there who would disagree with you.  I had the impression she wanted to eliminate it (allow companies to pay whatever with no minimum set) which would have a very negative impact on the economy.  One only has to look at third world countries to prove that point.  No minimum standard  could very well mean all wages go down...no spending, no economic improvements, welcome to intense poverty.

The Market should determine the worth of someone not the government .More people would be hired for..entry level positions,if the minimum wage was so successful  the illegal aliens in this country  wouldn't be taking below minimum wage jobs here and sending money back to Mexico..Its called incentive that's what Michelle Bachman was talking about ..

Wait, is she saying that the min-wage should be eliminated so employers will have the ability to pay their employees LESS for the jobs they used to do for min-wage?

Or is she saying she wants to eliminate the min-wage so that employers are forced to pay a HIGHER wage because no one will take the job at the previously low min-wage salary?

If it's the second one, them I'm all for it. It will FOR SURE spur the economic growth, as wage-earners will be making more money, therefore having more money to spend. It's a proven economic fact: When people make more money, they spend more money. Economics 101.

Does anyone know which one it is? The article wasn't clear and only touched on the subject.

Now there is a fine idea.  Eliminate minimum wage and let's let people try to survive on even less then they make now.  Hey, the kids don't really need to eat every day do they?  Guess there is always welfare.
