There is really nothing to respond to Mike. This is not new and is what it is. I've said all there needs to be said about it and don't think it is necessary to clog up the page with more discussion about an old rule.
I'll respond to this soon.
I have a lot to say.
Thanks for the answer. That in and of itself is progress.....IMHO.
Mike, you seem very confused by this long standing rule of providing a link with the starting post of a thread. I'm not sure what has been done in the past with a member starting a random poll asking "who are you voting for" but I'd say this would be a rare post. Can't remember a post like that and if there has been, it's an older post. Would it stand today based on the rule to provide a link, no. Unless there was a special reason. But that would be up to the moderator (s) discretion.
I didn't make this rule. It was established before I became a member of the group years ago.
Would the presidential poll thread be deleted if there was no link?
That's a "yes" or "no" question.....or should be.
Thanks orhphanedhawk! Appreciate the support.
For a very long time, the rule has been that posts beginning a thread should be accompanied by a link. Rarely is there ever a thread here that doesn't start that way. I've expressed the times that they there have been exceptions. This is generally when a thread is not a current event but a long time member mentioning something about their health, a well wish on a holiday, an announcement made by a moderator of the group
That teally clears things up.
So I guess a poll about who you'd vote for president would have to have a link or it would be deleted.
Is that right?
Thanks for helping Barb out !
Hi there. This is actually not a rule change. If you look at the information section of the group, It asks members to provide a link with posts. We've always really done that with a few exceptions here and there like when Glass was in the hospital, announcements, a happy father's day wish, etc. When it is not really about current events is when you'd see this. I'm sure other things may have slipped through from time to time but know Barb has been good about this rule being utilized within the group.
The information section about the group also states that this is current events and not current arguments. So the hope is that discussion are started in order to learn from one another or hear what others have to say and express ourselves politely to be heard rather than to 'fight'.
Thanks to all of you for contributing to the forum.
Another rule change. I get it.
I think that will improve the forum.
jk... what a disaster THAT would be!!!
I think that Vance, Brice, RGlass, and ME should be made mod's as well.
It's only fair.
