And were paying them to basically do nothing at this point. Its the best job in the world, if you can get it. In order to get it, you have to be willing to take bribes, lie through your teeth, be able to point across the aisle, talk yourself in a complete circle and be able to convince somebody that you just made sense..... There are other qualifications but obviously a select few in the country have them.
All of them are a bunch of punks.
"We are at the mercy of these people." Sad isn't it? Somehow it seems unfair that they sit in Washington and dig their heels in, to whatever belief they have, when we're the ones who have to pay for it..
The last few days, it all has sunk in. We are at the mercy of these people.
No need. I think we all know something about frustration and venting. Been there done that so to speak.
And right now Im worried about the future of the country as well we all are. And should be from the looks of things. Sad it is.
I must apologize, I was just venting. I have a tendency to become over dramatic when I get frustrated. I just don’t see any hope for the future with this Government. They all make me sick to my stomach.
What exactly do you mean when you say an uprising?
The Main Difference between Me and most all of You are, I don’t define myself as neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I’m an American that is willing to Die for my Country and would welcome an Uprising. If you actually think our Government has your best Interest at Heart, you really need to turn the Television off for a few days and Reflect.
People can blame the Republicans all they want but I have yet to see how the numbers add up and no one has proved to me it can be done without raising Taxes. Teko brought out some good points but they too fall into Theory, Assumption, and Blame. I’m all for the ACA. I’ve set all the “Party Blame Game” aside and am trying to look at this with an open mind. From what I see, it is all based on Theory, Assumption, and Blame but no hard facts on how this thing is going to work. I would be for setting it aside for a year to work the kinks out but the sad truth is (we probably all agree on this one), if it was set aside for a year, a year from now nothing will be done and we will be sitting in the same place we are now.
I think this is one of those things that will need "tweaking".... unless you call raising taxes as tweaking.
Here is my illiterate take on this. 85% approximately have insurance thru their employer. Or maybe that is employers with over 50 employees. The ACA was brought about for those who did not have insurance thru the employer or how had been priced out of the market due to things like pre existing conditions. The only effect it should have on people who have insurance is that those people get the same perks and the insurance companies must meet the basic standard of care. The penalty starts at 1percent of ones yearly salary or 95 bucks and goes up over time to 4 percent. I believe the theory is that people will rather pay for something that they get a return for their money rather than throw the money away. Not sure if that will work that way and the other thing you are hearing is how companies are cutting full time employees to keep from paying healthcare but the other day they said stats came out saying that was due mostly to the econemy so I dont know. Then you have those living in republican led states like us, where the medicaid expansion has been refused, and the ability for the healthcare commissioner to negotiate rates has been put on hold for 2 years, making it almost impossible to afford it in those states and is being done as an obstructionary tactic to disuade the people from participating in the ACA. So if the plan were allowed to work as intended it would be a great deal, but with republican obstruction its going to throw a wrench in it and cause the poorest of us to not get the subsidys and middle class cannot get the subsidys either but can still participate if affordable. ***** dont it? For people in republican led states with obstruction in place the best place to sign up for it is thru the healthcare.gov website.
This seems to be a concern for a lot of us.
From what I can gather, they're counting on most people being able to retain their employer sponsored insurance. Those people would not get the subsidy.
Those that don't buy insurance will have to pay the "tax", and I agree that a lot of people will simply pay the $95 penalty, rather than shell out a monthly fee for insurance premiums. I have a friend, who is currently 63 yrs old and in good health, who plans to pay the penalty, rather than buy insurance, until she qualifies for Medicare.
It seems relatively clear, that at some point, taxes will have to be raised to cover the cost.
